3:00- 3:30 pm | Harmony in Reporting: The City of Mesa’s Standards and Templates– Jared Hansen
When the City of Mesa first implemented Business Objects, the number of reports began to grow at an exponential pace. Many reports were developed with different designs and customizations, all of them presenting data in a slightly different manner. In addition, no standards were developed for report names, organization, or numbering. This led to confusion with departments not knowing which reports they should run or data they should trust in order to have actionable insight. The report development team met and developed report standards and templates which provide the overall framework for reporting. As the City has implemented the new standards, we’ve made some modifications along the way especially as we’ve now completed an upgrade from 3.1 to 4.0. Learn how we arrived at our solution along with the lessons we learned along the way.
Main topics include:
- Why we needed reporting standard and processes
- How we developed report templates to meet those standards
- What lessons we learned during implementation of those standards and processes
